Fine Arts Students achieve All-State Awards
The Fine Arts department is pleased to announce that it has placed five students in the Florida Music Educators State Music Groups. Only a handful of students are selected from schools both private and public across the state. To be selected is a tremendous honor. These students will be representing our school at the FMEA convention in Tampa January 9 th -12 th . The students are: Trace Murray, Rachael Barnes, Miguel Lora, Ebony Okeke, and Cassandra McLellan.
Band Students Achieve High Marks at District Festival
The band just returned from the District 20 Florida Bandmasters Solo and Ensemble Festival where they took a record number of participants: 76 instrumentalists in grade 6-12. Out of these solo and ensemble members 54 attained the highest possible rating. 7 of our high school students qualified for state competition. Dade Christian School had the most entries of any school attending. Congratulations to all of the solo and ensemble members.
DCS Fine Arts Nominated for State Award
The secondary music program has been nominated for the Florida State Enrollment Award. This award is given to schools who have unusually high numbers in their music program. Currently there is over 35% of the secondary enrolled in a music course.
Art Department Adds Display Boards
The art department recently purchased some professional display boards to use in the main hallway. The display will feature various classes throughout the year. Stop by and see what's new this week. The current display is high school AP Art.
